- Meditation – Research has shown that high levels of stress can worsen existing allergies. Scientists suggest that stress upsets the balance of substances in your body that control the immune response. Some studies have found that meditation and yoga can have a positive effect on stress levels and can even reduce anxiety and pain.
- Exercise – Getting in a good workout isn’t going to cure your allergies, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle can certainly minimize the effects of allergy symptoms. Of course, if you’re sensitive to pollen, you may want to use the treadmill or hit the gym until the worst is over.
- Environment – Maintaining and providing yourself with a clean environment can help boost your immune system and battle allergies. This could include using an air conditioner for temperature control instead of opening a window or installing wood floors instead of carpet. Frequent dusting and vacuuming can have a large impact as well.
