Vitamin D may provide a new benefit

You probably already know that vitamin D is good for maintaining strong bones, healthy teeth and absorbing calcium, but it has also been found to support immune system, enhance memory and support your overall health.

Researchers funded by the National Institutes of Health found vitamin D to reduce the size of uterine fibroids in laboratory rats. According to Mayo Clinic, uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths in the uterus that can appear during childbearing years. Approximately three out of four women have these at some point in their lives, and although they do not always need surgical treatment, they can require emergency care if there is sharp pelvic pain or heavy menstrual bleeding.

“Additional research is needed to confirm vitamin D as a potential treatment for women with uterine fibroids. But it is also an essential nutrient for the health of muscle, bone and the immune system, and it is important for everyone to receive an adequate amount of the vitamin,” said one researcher Dr. Ayman Al-Hendy, MD, of of Meharry Medical College in Nashville.

Dr. Pinkus’ Sublingual D-3 is an all-natural supplement from Dr. Newton’s Naturals that contains the vitamin D equivalent of 50 cups of fortified milk. The fast melting tablets disperse under the tongue quickly and do not lose potency during the metabolic process.
