Diabetes patients lack awareness of kidney diseases

Research that was recently published in the Journal of Renal Care reveals that many people with diabetes are insufficiently educated regarding increased risk of kidney ailments stemming from the blood sugar disorder.

A British study suggests that while many diabetes patients are aware of risks the disease poses to eye and foot health, they often feel surprised and fearful when they are referred to renal care.

“Some patients saw their kidney referral as a wake-up call that they needed to manage their diabetes more seriously, while others were concerned about their lack of knowledge about the disease,” said Gurch Randhawa, director of the Institute for Health Research at the University of Bedfordshire.

Results of the study suggest that individuals with diabetes should pay extra attention to kidney health. This could include nutritional supplements that help detoxify the body, such as Ultimate Reds from Dr. Newton’s Naturals. The powdered drink supplement contains extracts from 20 different fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants that could help eliminate free radicals from the body and promote kidney health.

Additionally, Americans may be able to avoid diseases like diabetes by managing blood sugar levels. Supplements like Dr. Agin’s Skinny D from Dr. Newton’s Naturals may be effective in controlling insulin levels and keeping blood sugar low.
